what happens when causality is thrown by the wayside?

no. that's what happens.
when the logical chain of events of cause and effect are... ignored, for individual purpose... rationality is done for. consider our systems of justice... people are held accountable (in theory) for things that they do, not things that they might have done if given the chance, not are they held to the standard of what they imagined may or may not be happening.
so what about if one is held accountable for things beyond their control... or more simply; something that individual did not do? Is that still justice?

the burden of proof lies upon the shoulders of the accusers. Not those forced to defend themselves from modern heresy..,
so next time you ask me to care...
